A very exciting year for URSRP. π
In a little under 12 months, the development team has created an ecosystem far beyond what we imagined when this all started.
A haven for writers who want to collaborate, a place that isn't a social media website with RP bolted on.
Somewhere that doesn't compete with other writer spaces. We can all co-exist.
At a glance, here's what URSRP developers brought to the site this year!
What URSRP Built This Year So Far: β¨
URSRP is an adult-only roleplay platform for writers to create characters, find partners, open private scenes, and manage shared story worlds with clear trust, privacy, and permission rules.
Users must confirm they are 18+ and verify their email before full access. Each account includes profile settings, display name, theme, security, and recovery tools. After login, the dashboard shows characters, drafts, inbox, rooms, notifications, projects, and account status, with character work prioritized.
Writers can create detailed characters, save drafts, preview full sheets, upload images, and set visibility as private, discoverable, or project-only. Verified users can browse discoverable characters, mark characters as looking for roleplay, view tags and summaries, and find writers through author profiles.
Communication starts through account-based inbox messages. Users can block, report, archive, and manage alerts. Accepted invites can open private roleplay rooms for long-form scenes, including edits, reactions, emotes, OOC text, turn order, persistent history, and direct, group, or project-based formats. Some project-open scenes may be discoverable.
Projects let users create shared story worlds with names, slugs, logos, descriptions, visibility settings, members, join rules, rooms, factions, moderation tools, and data controls. Free verified users can own one active project, while additional ownership requires Premium or Creator. Projects may require character review before use in project spaces or factions.
Factions support groups, guilds, or organizations within projects, with leaders, officers, members, ranks, logos, and descriptions. Faction authority is limited to that faction.
Friends are account-level relationships, separate from persistent invites. Referral links can invite new users, and persistent invites can open or reuse inbox threads and private rooms without automatically creating friendships.
Authors can draft books with chapters, keep them private, release them publicly after review, or share them by private link. Blog posting is separate and available only to approved authors or admins.
Paid tiers such as Premium and Creator increase ownership capacity and may expand project, room, discovery, and author-tool limits. Supporter is mainly for recognition and profile customization.
Trust and safety tools include blocking, reporting, confirmations for destructive actions, audit trails, scoped project permissions, and separately audited site-admin actions. Managers do not receive sensitive powers by default.
What's coming to URSRP soon: π₯
A 'Personal Dice' system that's designed around having a personal dice to fling around on the screen to give users an interactive way to make character choices without anyone else seeing the roll. They will be the thing we focus on making 'completely customizable', giving users a studio to make dice that other users can choose as options.
Additional Book Studio options. We believe that roleplayers are authors and need space to allow their ideas to expand beyond the traditional roleplay rooms.
User Blogs. We want to bring this idea forward without becoming a 'social media' clone. We're still working on the details.
Pre-Alpha is Ending, Soon in Alpha π
Get in on the URSRP pre-alpha now so that you can be one of the few with the rare Pre-Alpha account badge. It's free, no card or sign up required.
One of our core beliefs at URSRP is that roleplay should not cost money. Our service is completely usable by free users.
Once this Pre-Alpha phase switches to Alpha, we'll no longer require screening for new users. Anyone can sign up and start right away!
π
Thanks everyone who is participating in this pre-alpha, see you in the alpha!
